Does it matter what type of MiniDV tape is used for MiniDV Hi-Definition camcorders?
Monday, July 27th, 2009Avz J asked:
Some Hi-Definition camcorders on the market use MiniDV just like some non-HD camcorders. There seem to be two kinds of MiniDV tapes: the standard kind which is most commonly found, and a special, more expensive kind which seems to be aimed at HD consumers. Would it be better to use a standard MiniDV tape in an HD MiniDV camcorder, or would it be better to use the more expensive kind?

Do Hard Drive camcorders still have lower image quality than miniDV ones?
Monday, July 20th, 2009canada visa check asked:
All websites suggest that Hard drive camcorders provide lower image quality than miniDV because of their mpeg-2 compressed format. Is that still true, or is this something that has been fixed on the newer hard drive camcorders? Also is there a difference in this specific regard between the cheaper (~$600) hard drive camcorders and the more expensive ones today?

i dont need one that has 100xzoom or that screen that shows what your recording, and i dont need one that can record for 2 hours, 10 mins worth of film at the most.
i had one of those digital blue ones when i first started making videos, but i need to step up from that.
where can i find one thats really cheap..(dont say ebay please, unless you know the name of the camera)
oh and if i could plug this thing into my computer to put the video into windows movie maker…thats what i need.
which decent camcorders have a microphone plug and are under $280 ?

My camera is aging quite a bit… I brought it to a repair shop and the service guy said it’s drum needs to be replaced. Well I take his word for it but I’d like to know more about the drum and drum hours, when to know when it’s time to replace, how much does the part cost, etc. Does anyone know?
